Actually, I already have an idea in mind, but let us see what else is out there. Original idea was simply called “Rites of Passage,” a study on how boys transitioned into men throughout various times and cultures. This ceremony is MISSING in current American society. This is important to me, because while schools may churn out good ‘citizens’ and ‘workers,’ actual ADULTS is another matter entirely.
Or, I could go back into my own childhood and pick a topic. Something I have not studied in a long time, but held a previous devoted passion for. It would be fun, seeing what new developments have occurred, what new insights have been gained through new technology and masters in the field. Astronomy, for one. Paleontology for another. I also devoured myths and folktales. Maybe I should tackle a culture I never really delved into. Like ancient Oriental or African stories.
Have to keep the technology aspect of the project in mind. That may determine the topic. Or maybe just how I pursue my research. I am a bit ‘old school’ in that I prefer print sources whenever possible. Could be time to take my inquiry habits into the electronic age.
